Who is Constance Wu Husband?

Constance Wu is an American actress born on March 22, 1982. Wu was added to Time magazine’s 100 most influential persons in the world list for 2017. Wu has received numerous accolades, including nominations for the Golden Globe Award, Critics Choice Awards, Screen Actors Guild, and TCA Awards.

Wu was Jessica Huang in the ABC TV comedy Fresh Off the Boat (2015-2020). This was Wu’s breakthrough role that earned her four nominations for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Actress In a Comedy Series.

Her role as Rachel Chu in Crazy Rich Asians (2018), a romantic comedy-drama film, was also praised. As a result, she received nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Award and Golden Globe Award for Outstanding Performance by A Cast in a Motion Picture nomination. This made her the first Asian-American actress to win the latter category in over 40 years.

She starred in “Hustlers” (2019), a crime drama film, and “Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile” (2022). In the same year, after a series of media scandals and mental health issues, her memoir, “Making a Scene,” was published and critically acclaimed.

Early life

Constance Wu was born in Richmond, Virginia, to Taiwanese parents who immigrated from Taiwan. Fang-Sheng Wu is her father and is a biology and genetics professor. He works at Virginia Commonwealth University, while her mother is a computer programmer.

Wu stated that her paternal grandparents, bamboo farmers, were impoverished and had no opportunity to receive an education. They were, therefore, unable to read or write. She is the third daughter of four.

She graduated from Douglas S. Freeman high school in Henrico County, Virginia, where she was a performer in local theatre. During her high school, Wu went to Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to participate in a six-month program.

Wu graduated in 2005 from the State University of New York at Purchase’s Conservatory of Theatre Arts, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting. Wu cites Academy Award-winning director Ang Lee for his influence. Wu was a college student in psycholinguistics and considered getting a graduate degree in speech pathology, but she decided to act and moved to Los Angeles.

Her Relationship

Constance, 40 years old, keeps her private life under wraps. However, she has been in a loving relationship for a few years with Ryan Kattner. Constance and Ryan have a 2-year-old daughter. Constance spoke about her excitement at the possibility of her role in Lyle, Lyle Crocodile, a family series, in an interview with E! in October 2022. She said, “I started my TV career doing family shows, which was incredible.” It’s fantastic to be able to do that again. I hope to share it with my child now that I have one.”

Ryan Kattner, 43, is a musician and pursues his in the same field even after his wife, Wu, became a prominent actress. Ryan, Constance Wu husband, was part of an alternative rock band called Man Man with the name Honus Honus. The band stood together for more than two decades.

“The Man In The Blue Turban With A Face” was the first album the band released in 2004. After that, they put together a total of five albums. “Dream Hunting in the Valley of the In-Between” is the recent album from the group that released in 2020. No hard evidence is present on how Wu met Ryan or for how many years they dated, but Constance Wu stated in a 2018 interview that Ryan was her boyfriend. She further talked how he behaved with her bunny, her pet rabbit. She stated that he behaved just like he used when he was with the bunny although he was not an animal person. It was a long time ago, and she said he was an amazing individual.

Ryan Kattner often kept his personal life with his wife more private. However, they became popular after Wu gave birth to a baby girl in 2020. Constance Wu husband made the news public in December, the same year. The Hustlers actress returned to work after the baby and stated that Chris Pratt, her co-star in the film, helped her a lot and stood up whenever she needed. The reason was that Chris welcomed a newborn recently. Additionally, Chris always had a caring, supportive, and kind nature. Wu stated that she was blessed to have him as her partner to The Hollywood reporter.

Ben Hethcoat and Wu’s Relationship

Ryan Kattner became a part of Wu’s life after she broke up with her mystery boyfriend. She stated this while interviewing for an article for the Bustle. Additionally, Constance Wu came into the limelight for being romantically involved with Ben Hethcoat, actor, and director. According to Bustle, Constance Wu tweeted in 2015 about her trip to bunny museum on the valentine’s day. Nonetheless, the relationship lasted only till 2018. Ben Hethcoat worked in The Mortuary collection movies apart from Show Yourself. He also directed four episodes of Gary’s Garden.

Constance talked about being harassed because she is dating a white man

The “Fresh Off The Boat” actress has not been afraid to share her experiences in the entertainment business. She has spoken about her suicidal thoughts after backlash from the TV series and about how a producer sexually harassed her.

She has also addressed critics who had called her out for being an Asian woman and dating white men in interviews. She said that they assume all her boyfriends are white, based on one boyfriend that the media saw on her social media page. “This is the boyfriend I was with when I started my account and continued to date him,” she stated at Vulture Los Angeles Fest in 2018.

“I’m completely fine with my choices and why they are made — I’m confident in that — so if someone needs to target me to be part of an extended journey about how they feel about their place in this world or themselves, that’s okay.”
